I used this idea for my adult daughters last birthday. I got out her baby books and displayed them on a table. If you look closely in the upper right hand corner you will see a baggy with locks of hair from her first haircut.

I also lined a bookshelf with the team pictures from her sports teams. As you walk along she literally grows up before your eyes.
