My granddaughter was given a pair of shoes that were not wide enough over the arch. There was a piece of Velcro attached to the tongue of the shoe. I took it off and sewed it to the side of the shoe that the flap hooked onto. Before the top flap was too short, with the Velcro extension, it now fit nicely.
