I buy sugar when it is on sale and keep it in my pantry in Ziplock plastic bags. You can keep sugar for over a year. Sometimes, the plastic bags fail me and I end up with lumpy sugar.

I get out my trusty sifter and pouring the sugar in a little at a time, sift the lumps away.
